Experience
Lifeguard | NPLQ Certified
Bangor Pool
Responsible for public safety in a high-pressure environment. Developed strong leadership skills and the ability to act decisively during emergencies. Proficient in conflict resolution and handling customer complaints in difficult environments.
Team Leader & Speaker
Engineering Education Scheme Wales
Nominated leader for a group engineering project. Responsibilities included project management and presenting technical solutions to an engineering summit. Focused on effective communication to achieve high-level project results. Our team was rewarded with a Gold CREST award.
Teaching Mathematics
Helping Students with Their Studies
Provided one-on-one tutoring sessions to students struggling with mathematical concepts, helping them to improve their understanding in the run up to exams. Developed patience and the ability to explain complex ideas in a simple way, which has been rewarding to see students progress and succeed.
Engineering Research & Site Visits
Behind the scenes at major engineering sites
Conducted hands-on research and site inductions at Wylfa Nuclear Power Station, Coleg Menai Labs, and Liverpool University Science Departments to understand large-scale engineering operations.
Competing for Wales
Part of the Welsh Triathlon Squad
Selected to represent Wales in triathlon competitions. Competed during my school years, balancing training with academic commitments. Developed discipline, time management, and teamwork skills through rigorous training and competition.
Building a PC
Assembling a Powerful Custom Computer
I had been looking to build my own PC since 2023, and finally found the right time in late 2025. I purchased all the components needed and waited for them to arrive. Over the next weekend I assembled and configured the PC, which luckily posted on the first boot. I learnt lots about how a computer works, along with the software which it uses to run. I now use it for everything from gaming to programming, and is actually what I used to build this site!
Work Experience
Weekend work experience with Paramount Waste
I completed a weekend of work experience with Paramount Waste, gaining insight into the engineering behind the waste management industry and developing skills in a real-world setting. During my time I shadowed a senior engineer and observed how they work and manage a team day to day.
M3 Maths Challenge
Part of a 4 Person Maths Team
This is an international mathematics competition for A-level students, where teams of 4 work together to model real-world problems. You are given a brief, along with a large dataset, and have to come up with a mathematical model to predict future outcomes. Our team was considered for the technical computing prize, and although we didn't win, we were very proud of our work and the experience was invaluable in developing our mathematical and teamwork skills.
CAD/Sketchup Software
Learning 3D Modeling and Design
This was a skill I picked up through the EESW project which I competed in, since our vest project required the use of 3D modeling to create fasteners and fixtures. I then sent these models to a 3D printer which we were lucky enough to have access through during our tour of the Coleg Menai Labs. I printed in PLA, TPU, PETG and more.
Welding
Stick and MIG welding
I have taught myself how to stick weld simple fixtures and joints, both for future use and also for personal projects. I feel I have managed to get the hang of it, although I am still learning and improving my technique. I have briefly completed some MIG welding too, which was very similar to the stick welding I had already done, and I am looking to do some TIG welding in the future for more precise work.
Coding
Python 3, Django, HTML, CSS
I have taken a weeklong crash course in Python 3, which was a great introduction to programming, and helped me with my personal goals of coding as well. During this course we were focusing on building our understanding of the language and learning how to code without any assists. Later in the course we focused on website and app coding, using HTML, CSS and Django, whilst learning about how we can use AI to speed up our development and check for errors. I have continued to learn and practice coding since then, and I am currently using it to build this website! It has been a great way to apply what I've learnt and develop my skills further.
Tool Usage
Competent With a Large Number of Tools
I have used a wide variety of tools across different projects, including hand tools, power tools, and machinery. Some of these are; drills, saws, welders, 3D printers, jig saws, sanders, chainsaws, log splitters, excavators, power supplies, torque wrenches, bearing pullers, piston ring compressors, valve spring compressors, and the list goes on. I am happy to learn how to use any tool, and I have a good understanding of how to use them safely and effectively.
Mechanical Knowledge
Familiar With Mehcanical and Electrical Systems
Over the years I have stripped and attempeted to fix/build a wide variety of mechanical and electrical systems, which has given me a good understanding of how they work and how to troubleshoot them. This gives me a good foundation for any future projects, jobs, or courses I want to attend. I have a natrually curious mind, which, for better or worse, has led me to extensive research and teardowns of anything I can get away with dissasembling, including cars, motorbikes, computers, phones, mountain bikes and more. I have also done a lot of work on my own car (out of being cheap or for the experience is yet to be decided), but reguardless has given me invaluable holds for which I can build my understanding of modern systems.
